Green Turtle
- "So called because of the green fat underneath their carapace. I was very privileged to see many turtles while on holiday in the Maldives in 1997. This green turtle was munching coral and I was only a couple of feet away from him; he looked at me over his shoulder with quite an indignant expression, and then continued eating! I watched him for about 10 minutes before he gracefully disappeared further down the reef. Watching turtles, many different types of shark and hundreds of incredible fish in all shapes and colours among st spectacular coral gardens in their own environment was a huge source of inspiration. This Mezzotint is a combination from drawings I made at The Natural History Museum in London, and photographs I took underwater."
